Unpredictable

So much has happened in the past week that I do not even know where to begin or end. It is amazing how much change change in the course of a week, a day, and even a second. Yes I'm being dramatic, but for once my drama is valid.

Week of School before Spring Break
The chaos that is my school seemed to magnify the week before spring break.
Monday: SURPRISE we have a day off. Although according to the school calender and newsletter we were going to have school off on Wednesday, let's change it the day before. You may think that I would be happy about this... WRONG! There is nothing worse then cutting out a day when you are trying to finish a book, give a unit test, reteach, and enter grades. Result: Students didn't come on Monday OR Wednesday. Grrrr.
Tuesday: Service Day. What that means? Not sure, but good thing I know how to think on my feet. Scenario: It is 8:00am and in 5 minutes you just found out that you have a 2 1/2 hour advisory class. What do you do with them? Figure it out fast. 12:30 you have a group of students walking through East Oakland in the middle of a rain storm to volunteer at a Middle School that doesn't know you are coming. Think on your feet. Fast.
Wednesday: I gave a test review (for the test I was suppose to have on Monday, that now has been pushed back to Thursday). Result? Not looking so good.
Thursday: 3:45pm on my way to a meeting. CRASH! Someone side swipes me and totals my car in East Oakland. BANG! There is another car accident 10 yards away on the same street. BOOM! About 50 feet away someone has just rear-ended a police car. What a day. I didn't have to go to the hospital, but lil Gerturde has been sent to the car graveyard. April Fools ain't so funny.
Friday: SURPRISE (again) no school. Principle cancels school because there are 2 funerals being held for students (who do not go to our school, but a lot of students know). Spring Break comes early this year. For some reason I am not particularly happy.

All in all, this week was absolutely unpredictable and incredibly stressful. Not knowing if you are going to have any students show up to school on the day of your Unit Exam really throws teachers for a loop. So what if I actually wanted my students to learn something this week. So what if I would rather teach then have an unscheduled day off (I may sound crazy, but it's true).

I am on spring break right now sitting on Quane Hill with Skittles purring in my lap. Although my neck is still a little sore, I am doing okay with mom fatting me up with baked goods. I finally have a chance to take a breath, and reflect on how crazy my life is.
